7 days to a healthier you

Day 1 of 7 of our Get Healthier Campaign.

We are super excited to kick off our 7 days to a healthier you

Over the next few days we will be giving you a little insight into what we eat and how we exercise on a daily basis. Our goal is to encourage you to make small changes to improve your lifestyle one step at a time. It's not a short term diet but rather a process of making little improvements here and there that eventually stick, creating a healthier, fitter you.

We want to show you that eating healthy can be exciting and delicious, and for most of our dishes, quick and easy too. We will also be sharing tips and tricks along the way to get you started.

So.. to kick it off, let me introduce you to our delicious breakfast this morning- Nutty fruit porridge.

This literally took us 6 minutes to make and is filled with loads of essential vtamins and minerals to get us fired up for the day. We have included a little breakdown of some of the benefits for a few of the ingredients so you understand what extra power they pack.

Nutty Fruit Porridge.
 (All recipes serve 2)

To start you will need:

  • 2 Bananas
  • 2 Red apples
  • 1 Passion fruit
  • Half a pomegranate
  • A handful of nuts ( we used brazil, walnut, cashew and almonds)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 heaped tablespoons coconut flakes
  • 2 tablespoons Chia seeds
  • 3 tablespoons coconut water
Directions:

Chop all the fruit and nuts into small cubes. Add the seeds, coconut flakes and coconut water to the bowl. Mix all together and serve.

Enjoy!

Why you should eat them:

Chia seeds are super high in dietary fibre, making it great for digestion. They also contain 20% Omega 3 fatty acids, making it a super food for the brain and heart and eight times more Omega 3 than salmon!

Pomegranates have very high antioxidant properties and are rich in potassium, vitamin C, niacin and fibre.

Make sure you start the day off with a warm mug of lemon water. Not only does it boost your immune system as lemons are loaded with vitamin C but it also helps balance your bodies pH. Surprisingly lemons are one of the most alkaline foods around as it does not create acidity in the body once metabolised.

We would love to hear what steps you are taking to live a healthier lifestyle or what you thought of the nutty fruit porridge so please leave a comment below.

See you at lunch time. x
